FSEC's mission is to research and develop energy technologies that reduce Florida's use of energy and enhance its economy and environment; to educate the public, practitioners and students on the results of the research; to conduct energy policy research; and to develop and administer state mandated programs to test, certify and approve all solar energy equipment manufactured or sold in Florida. Key areas include photovoltaics, energy use in buildings, electrical end-uses, solar water heating, solar chemical processes, innovative air-conditioning systems, alternative transportation fuels, and the production, storage and use of hydrogen.
