The goals and objectives of the Center are to bring together faculty with strong interests in research in the theory of electronic structure and dynamics of matter in gas and condensed phases and applications of that theory to processes and properties of materials, especially nano-scale and biological systems. The Institute leverages these faculty interests into a graduate educational and research program for the production of new knowledge and software and training of researchers in these fields of study. It provides for close collaboration and sharing of instrumentation (primarily computers and networks) in these areas of research and education.
