The Center is organized to facilitate both research and educational goals. To properly address USF's research and teaching mission, it is important to recognize the nature of the special blend and delicate balance between the two. The Center offers its members excellent opportunities to successfully combine the two elements. An interdisciplinary approach is essential when examining the molecular nature of human health issues. This approach facilitates the acquisition of new knowledge and allows development of therapeutic protocols. The Center has the capability of developing a therapeutic approach from a basic understanding of translational research and eventual testing in the clinic. The Center links faculty across USF with expertise on important aspects of this research issue and a keen interest, understanding and desire to accomplish USF's graduate education mission.
