The Intensive English Institute provides comprehensive English language preparation for international students and other non-native English speakers who seek to improve their academic English skills primarily for U.S. college/university admission, but also for other academic business and personal reasons. The Institute is an integral part of supporting growth of international student enrollment and other aspects of the University’s global strategic mission. Furthermore, the Institutes supports the teaching and research mission of the University through collaborations with academic departments and training opportunities for graduate students pursuing careers in the field of teaching English as a foreign/second language. The areas of focus include: traditional full-time intensive English preparation, with part-time study options for eligible students; language support for conditional admissions and university pathway programs; continuing education for ESL; training of graduate teaching assistants.
