The Center conducts research, teaching and service in the area of health and the built environment. It is interdisciplinary in focus and involves all five design disciplines in the College of Design, Construction and Planning - urban planning, building construction, interior design, landscape architecture, and architecture. It focuses on issues and policies to promote more active living by the design of all physical space and constructs to promote healthy communities for all residents, but especially those disproportionately affected by the consequences of poverty, physical activity and poor land use planning.
