Mission: TROPARC’s mission is to conduct research with the objective of understanding issues and finding solutions to problems related to the built environment in the Americas. TROPARC was established in 1981 to capitalize on UF's unique geographic location, cultural orientation, and teaching and research expertise. The original mission of the center was to foster connections between UF and Caribbean and Central American nations. Today, the center can benefit from the expansion of relations between the State of Florida and several countries throughout Latin America, and help solidify the academic programs in Mexico and in Brazil already in existence in the College of Design, Construction and Planning, fostering more collaborative and interdisciplinary research projects with international academic institutions and other partners.
