Advances in Machine Learning and Engineering Applications
This talk discusses challenging engineering problems and some possible solutions using machine intelligence. For example, with the recent advances in machine learning such as deep learning, it is now possible for autonomous vehicles or self-driving cars to have real-time detection and recognition of pedestrians, animals, obstructions as well as other vehicles. The same technology could be used in other engineering applications requiring object detection and pattern recognition. Together with sensors such as LIDAR, machine learning can be applied to solve "hard" engineering problems such as self-driving vehicles.
