Mission | There is a pressing need by society for reliable scientific information about climate variability, climate change, and sea level rise at local to regional scales and for technologies and policy options for societal responses to those changes. The mission of the Florida Climate Institute (FCI) is to meet this need in Florida by fostering interdisciplinary research, education, and extension to: 1) improve understanding of the processes and effects of climate variability, climate change, and sea level rise on the economy, ecosystems, and human-built systems; 2) develop technologies and information for creating economic opportunities and policies that reduce economic and environmental risks in managed and natural systems, and 4) engage Floridians in research, extension and education programs for enhancing adaptive capacity and responses to associated climatic risks and sea level rise. |
