Mission | To create a nationally recognized center where advanced research and technology applications are developed and disseminated, particularly in Human Centered Transportation Simulation and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and that is identified as a vital resource for inter-modal transportation practitioners and decision-makers who are addressing the nation’s needs for the safe, efficient movement of people and goods. This vision reflects the bases for the CATSS’ successful Strategic Plan on the CATSS Website. Focused on our commitment to advancing the state-of-the-art in surface transportation, CATSS is fulfilling its vision by actively following a mission of education, research and technology transfer. The strategy that we use to achieve our vision and mission is through focus areas which include: ITS/Traffic Systems; Safety; and Simulation and Training. Projects and activities occur in the following Programs: Advanced Intelligent Transportation & Communications (AITC); Bridge Health Monitoring; Transportation Safety; Driving Simulator Laboratory; and Research in Advanced Performance Technology and Workforce Readiness (RAPTAW) |
