Virtual Human Technology to Recruit for Clinical Trials

Janice Krieger of UF has received $2.1 million from the National Institute on Aging to tailor a virtual health assistant to recruit older adult minorities for clinical trials. Agent Leveraging Empathy for eXams (ALEX) will tailor content to be patient centered and culturally relevant.

The project will conduct focus groups to obtain data on how to redesign ALEX to be culturally sensitive, track engagement of ALEX in recruiting for active clinical trials, and compare ALEX with standard recruitment methods. The project will focus on underserved populations that are at high risk for developing chronic health conditions.
