Treatment Improves Asthma Outcomes for Black and Latinx Adults

Juan Carlos Cardet of USF is researching single maintenance and reliever therapy for asthma, which combines two medications in one inhaler for quick relief of acute symptoms. Cardet is focused on Black and Latinx populations, which suffer disproportionately from asthma.

“The patient-centered PARTICS intervention we investigated works in underrepresented populations with poorly controlled asthma. It’s feasible, low cost, and may be easy to implement and help reduce the burden of complications from asthma if we can bring it to the clinic,” said Cardet.
