Mission | The mission of the multi-disciplinary Center for Research in Emotion and Attention (CSEA) is to define the psychophysiology of human emotion, with the goal of determining how emotion modulates attention, perception, learning and memory, and other cognitive processes. The research agenda includes measurement of emotion’s autonomic and somatic reflex physiology (using pupilometry, electrocardiography, respirometry, electrodermal and electromyographic measures), as they relate to objective measures of behavior and evaluative-report. Electroencephalography (EEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) are used to study brain circuit activation and connectivity in emotional perception and memory imagery. The Center’s clinical translational aim is to advance understanding of the anxiety and mood disorders. Research training is provided at the post-doctoral, graduate student, post-baccalaureate and undergraduate levels. |
