Competitive Advantages:
Site-specific precise treatment, High local therapeutic efficiency, Minimized systemic side effects.
A targeting nanoparticle composition and method of treatĀment for diseases associated with major basement memĀbrane components of blood vessels accessible from blood stream is presented. The composition includes pegylated perfluorocarbon nanoparticles having a targeting ligand attached that targets the basement membrane components, specifically collagen IV. The targeted nanoparticles may contain at least one pharmaceutically active agent capable of treating a glomerular disease such as lupus nephritis. The development of the glomerulus-targeted therapeutic PFC nanoparticles might have strong translational significance and offer potent site-specific precise treatments for glomerular diseases with minimized systemic side effects.
