The mission of the Florida Infectious Disease Institute is to educate our citizens and healthcare professionals, engage in policy research and development and provide clinical research and services related to the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. The Institute will assist healthcare providers and the general public in accessing current information needed to deal with the threats posed by emerging infections, biological weapons, antibiotic resistant organisms and chronic infectious diseases.

The mission of the University of South Florida GHIDR Center is to bring together interdisciplinary research teams with expertise in diseases of global importance and transfer of technology with global and community partners to collaborate on developmental projects, train students and professionals and to strengthen and sustain healthy communities while improving quality of life. The USF GHIDR Center will be recognized for bringing together interdisciplinary translational research collaboration teams with expertise in diseases of importance.
