| Mission: | Florida is an ocean dependent state. All of Florida's public, and most of its private and research academic institutions and state environmental agencies maintain ocean programs and require ocean access for training, practical, and applied research. To meet those needs the Florida Institute of Oceanography was established to: 1. Provide the facilities required to support state education and ocean research programs. 2. Support existing and initiate new educational and research programs in all fields of the Marine Sciences on behalf of its membership and the State. |
