If we are to make this new century of information and globalization a gentler,kinder,and more peaceful century than the previous one, we must encourage genuine, soul-searching dialogue among the world's great civilizations. Dialogue is no guarantee that world peace will prevail, but the absence of dialogue often leads to conflict and war. The raison d'etre of the Center for Civilizational Dialogue is to facilitate dialogue among peoples from different civilizations, thus making a small contribution to world peace.
