The overall mission of the Institute is to provide educaitonal services to Northeast Florida which complement standard academic programs offered by the University. The Institute was formed as an intercollegiate organization to efficiently coordinate projects in science, science education, mathematics and mathematics education. A new component has been added to the Institute's mission, the Center for Science and the Public. The Center's focus is on improving public science literacy.
