The Institute on Aging exists to improve the health, independence and quality of life of older adults by means of interdisciplinary teams in the areas of research, education and health care. Overarching goals of the Institute on Aging are to develop an interdisciplinary and dynamic research that spans public health, social, health services, behavioral, clinical and basic sciences. To develop and provide educational programs for undergraduate, graduate, professional and post-graduate trainees in an integrated model of care and research. To provide state-of-the-art comprehensive patient- and community-centered care for older adults that is grounded in respect and understanding and fosters compassion and effective communication for patients, populations and families.
