Mission: The Maples Center is a joint initiative between the Colleges of Medicine, Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Veterinary Medicine. The Center currently utilizes its extensive expertise in forensic medicine to provide comprehensive services and innovative programs that relate to medico-legal death investigation and veterinary forensic sciences. The Maples Center houses the Florida Emergency Mortuary Operations Response System, which is the state's mortuary response team for rapid deployment following a mass fatality event. The Maples Center also provides educational programs year-round to bring new, unique and multi-faceted approaches and insight to the widest range of contemporary medico-legal issues. In addition to maintaining the service mission, another goal of the Maples Center is the development of undergraduate and graduate educational programs in Forensic Medicine and Veterinary Forensic Sciences.
