Mission: Through research, education and service initiatives, the Institute for Mobility, Activity and Participation (I-MAP) will preserve, promote and improve independent, safe, and appropriate mobility for individuals and within populations. Note: The World Health Organization defines mobility, activity and participation as: •Mobility: “Moving by changing body position or location, or by transferring from one place to another, by carrying, moving or manipulating objects, by walking, running or climbing, and by using various forms of transportation.” (ICF, p. 138) •Activity: “ The execution of a task or action by an individual” (ICF, p. 123) •Participation: “Participation is involvement in a life situation”. (ICF, p. 123)
