The USF Center for Jazz Composition, as an outgrowth of the research mission of the USF School of Music, seeks to assure the continued worldwide growth, development, and appreciation of the role of the composer/arranger in jazz. To further that goal, it endeavors to initiate or serve as a catalyst to stimulate programs which: promote a better understanding of the historical significance of composers/compositions, assure the continued public performances and dissemination of jazz repertory, and nurture the compositional efforts of contemporary jazz artists.
