To enrich, enhance, and facilitate the University's overall mission to advance scientific knowledge through research and translate that research into improved patient care and health outcomes. To enhance capacity to support research training and career development activities in biomedical science, clinical investigation and health services research. To provide scientific guidance to investigators on research study design, statistical methodology, data analysis and data interpretation. To establish the necessary expertise and infrastructure to coordinate studies, assimilate and implement new studies, monitor clinical sites, provide statistical support, provide oversight, interact wiuth sponsors and otherwise conduct clinical trials. To develop and maintain research data bases that can be used to support the development of studies, recruitment of subjects, implementation of protocols, and analyses of data. To provide timely and appropriate scientific and technical guidance to faculty, staff, trainees, and collaborators, in order for research studies to have a sound scientific and statistical basis, with hypotheses that can be tested in a timely, practical manner.
