Mission: The mission of the Florida A&M University Sustainability Institute is to catalyze and support research, teaching and service that advances knowledge and practices to promote sustainability in social, economic and ecological realms at the campus, regional and global levels. FAMU-SI's activities address several areas of strategic emphasis for Florida A&M and the State University System of Florida, namely (1) increasing STEM degree attainment; (2) attracting external sources for R&D; and (3) preparing students for careers and lives in a globalized world in which sustainability concerns permeate every job sector. The SI engages all colleges/schools and administrative units and provides leadership and coordination for university-wide sustainability initiatives with global impact.
