The University of Florida Engineering Innovation Institute fosters a culture of innovation among faculty students and staff of the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering. It serves as a nexus for education programs that explore the spectrum of creative discovery and invention, and aim to prepare UF students and their technologies for the marketplace.
Entrepreneurship has traditionally been the purview of those coming from business-oriented education and careers. The advent of enabling technologies – such as the Internet, microelectronics, nanotechnology, advanced instrumentation and sensing systems – plus our evolving understanding of the human being, has opened new opportunities for engineers to play a starring role in the business of innovation.
