Biography
Andrea Borowczak is currently the Director of the School of Teacher Education (STE) and a Science Education Professor in the College of Community Innovation and Education (CCIE) at the University of Central Florida (UCF). She leads 50+ faculty in four programs including Early Childhood, Elementary, Exceptional Student, and Secondary Education. Previously, she served as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs and a Science Education Professor in the College of Education at the University of Wyoming. She earned an Ed.D. from the University of Cincinnati, M.S. from Florida State University, and B.S. from the University of Central Florida. She was the Association for Science Teacher Education’s (ASTE) President for 2023-2024 and won the ASTE Award 1 (2021 Outstanding Science Teacher Educator of the Year). She publishes regularly, has received 10.5+ million in grant funding, and is active in multiple organizations (e.g., ASEE) including journal editor responsibilities (e.g., JSTE Editor-in-Chief). Her research interests include integrated STEM (including computer science), partnerships, and K-12 pre-service/in-service teacher learning. Her research has generated 46+ peer-reviewed publications, 11+ book chapters, 2 edited books, and 200+ peer-reviewed conference papers and presentations. She taught middle and high school science for 12 years in Florida and Virginia (USA) bringing that expertise to higher education.
