Biography
I am a physical oceanographer studying the multiscale processes that govern ocean circulation and its role in the Earth system. My research focuses on internal gravity waves - particularly internal tides and near-inertial waves -and their contribution to deep-ocean mixing and energy pathways in the global ocean. I use a combination of realistic ocean model simulations, idealized process studies, and theoretical analysis to investigate the generation, propagation, and dissipation of these waves. My recent work examines the energetics of internal waves in the global ocean, their interactions with background flows and ocean topography, and how accurately these processes are represented in contemporary ocean models.
