Abstract
The University of Central Florida invention is a class of metallic nanowires that possess peroxidase-like catalytic activities. These peroxidase mimics can be used as alternatives to natural peroxidases for a broad range of visual biosensing assays such as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), immunohistochemistry, and western blotting. Compared to natural peroxidases, these metallic nanowires are more catalytically efficient and stable, allowing them to generate highly intense and reliable color signals.
