Abstract
Across
the word the incidence of environmental contamination is rapidly increasing. Detect-to-protect
biosensors are primarily utilized by first responders as a method of providing
warning signals during incidents of environmental contamination. Incidents of environmental
contamination can occur accidentally or intentionally. Early detection and
monitoring may contribute to mitigate or ameliorate the impact of environmental
contamination.FIU
inventors have developed a detector device that is a superior alternative to
present industry-standard detection for chemical-toxins which use sophisticated
analytical chemistry techniques and instrumentation. The on-chip SLISA (Silver-Linked
Immuno-Sensor Assay) design integrates the key advantages of label-free
ultra-transitive surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) detection using
silver nanoparticles with highly accurate immune-sensing technologies to
establish a new level of a detect-to-protect biosensors which are simple to
use, allow for rapid detection, and offer portable design for on-site
applications.
