Researchers at the University of South Florida have developed a mechanism that allows an individual to solely load and unload bicycles, sports equipment, kayaks, cargo containers, ladders, and other tools from the roof of a vehicle.
Loading and unloading items from the roof of a vehicle can be extremely difficult, especially when the vehicle is tall or when attempting without additional assistance. This also in-creases the risk of injury. It is against this back-ground that a need for an adjustable and effi-cient system for securely loading and unload-ing items from the roof of a vehicle arises.
USF inventors present a system and method for easier loading of items onto the roof of a vehicle without the extra help from another individual. The item is secured onto a much lower support to reduce the risk of potential injury. It is raised in a safe position for trans-portation by a motor. In conclusion, different hardware can be mounted on the system for transporting bicycles, sports equipment, kay-aks, cargo containers, ladders, and other tools.
