Dare Greatly, High Achievers
Audience: Adults
Description: High achieving students are particularly risk-averse. Raised in a culture of achievement, they have been taught to check boxes and stay the course in order to accomplish their tasks. Straying from the path laid out before them can be cause for consternation. And risk-taking, in particular, is weird, awkward, uncommon, scary. Using a participatory cultures framework, we propose new ways to help high achievers evolve into a mindset where fear of failure from risk-taking is no longer part of their identity, but a learning opportunity to grow and develop.

Subject Areas: Education
Keywords: college students
high achieving students
participatory cultures
Duration: 1 hour or less
Fee: Less than $500
Comments: Could develop into a longer workshop depending on audience.
