Consortium to Prepare Minority Students for Workforce

Sumit Paudyal of FIU has received $3 million from the U.S. Department of Energy to lead an initiative that will prepare minority students for careers with national security entities. The Consortium for Research and Education in Power and Energy Systems (CREPES) will train 48 undergraduate and 6 graduate students.

“Through CREPES at FIU, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students will receive the training and practical experience needed to succeed in the high-demand fields of electrical and nuclear engineering and cyber and information security,” said Paudyal. “NNSA recognizes FIU as an international leader and a top producer of Hispanic and African American engineers in the U.S.”
