FIU and Cleveland Clinic Work on Personalized Cancer Treatment

Diana Azzam will work with Cleveland Clinic Florida to research new treatment options for cancer patients. The research is funded by a $350,000 grant from the Scott R. Mackenzie Foundation and will follow advanced sarcoma patients’ clinical outcomes for two years.

“Functional precision medicine approaches are critical to match the right patient and right sarcoma with the most effective treatment to improve outcomes,” Azzam said. Azzam’s goal is to adopt drug sensitivity testing in cancer patients to guide clinical decision-making and provide novel treatment options.
