UF’s Morris Studies COVID-19 Transmission in Cars

Glenn Morris collected the COVID-19 virus from the air of a car driven by a patient confirmed to have the illness. The research highlights the importance of wearing a mask when using public transportation or sharing a vehicle with another person.

“These findings show that there is a risk of airborne transmission from people ill with COVID-19 who are not wearing a mask,” Morris said. “It really underscores the importance of mask-wearing, especially in small spaces with poor ventilation, or even wearing two masks as the CDC has recently recommended.”
