Michael Leuenberger of UCF will collaborate with MIT to develop lighter night-vision goggles than the current model, which weighs 2 pounds and leads to strain and limited mobility among wearers. The new goggles will allow for swift head movements and wider peripheral views.

“The goggles that currently exist in the field are too heavy and bulky,” says Leuenberger, an expert in physics and nonlinear optics. “We’re proposing technology that will negate this issue, while simultaneously advancing what currently exists in the realm of night vision technology.”
