Algorithm Helps Predict Seizures

FIU’s Fahad Saeed is leading a team of researchers in the development of an algorithm that can predict epileptic seizures before they occur. The algorithm uses machine learning and electroencephalogram data to predict when a seizure is likely to happen, allowing for early intervention/treatment.

Saeed and team have been working on developing a seizure prediction model using data analytics and machine learning. The research uses continuous EEG recordings and has been conducted through a clinical trial at Baptist Health South Florida to provide patients with epilepsy an early warning system to prevent seizures and improve quality of life.
