Southwest Florida’s Tech Industry Flexing Its Muscles

Amir Neto, director of FGCU’s Regional Economic Research Institute, is part of SWFL Tech, a partnership working to connect and promote southwest Florida’s technology ecosystem. The group also includes Lee County Economic Development Office and CareerSource Southwest Florida.

The team recently released the SWFL Tech Pulse 2025 report, which shows that between 2019 and 2024 the region’s tech industry grew almost 39% -- faster than other parts of the area economy, such as tourism, healthcare, construction, and agriculture. The area experienced sustained growth in computer and mathematical occupations, increasing earnings across most tech roles, expansion of tech-enabled roles in healthcare and education sectors, and growth in cybersecurity and cloud-aligned jobs.
