AI Tools to Help Real Little Hearts

A team of FSU researchers are working on an AI tool to aid in assessments for pediatric heart transplant patients. The goal is to create a system capable of analyzing and organizing clinical notes in order to identify potential psychosocial risks in patients.

“Pediatric heart transplantation is not just a medical challenge—it is also a social, behavioral, and information challenge,” says Zhe He. “AI can help organize and summarize complex psychosocial information, allowing healthcare teams to identify support needs more efficiently and make more informed decisions. Ultimately, this means more personalized care and better support for children and families throughout the transplant process.”
