Not only painful, the[CG1.1] damage to the lining and the devastation of the bacteria biome of the esophagus increases the risk of deadly esophageal cancer. UCF research is showing how a simple probiotic helps reduce this risk.
The research is focused on Lactobacillus spp., a helpful bacteria which can improve the at-risk microbial environment. “The reintroduction of beneficial bacteria works two-fold,” says Claudia Andl. “It restores a normal environment again, but also these Lactobacilli are known to suppress inflammation and repair the DNA damage.”
