Seawater Isotope Database Improves Global Models

FSU’s Alyssa Atwood led the creation of a publicly accessible archive hosting almost 50 years of seawater isotope measurements from around the globe. The archive, called the CoralHydro2k Database, includes nearly 19,000 datapoints which can be used to help scientists track the global water cycle.

This database is already providing insights into global warming’s effects on the water cycle.
“We’ve only scratched the surface in identifying how this data can help us understand how the ocean and global hydrological cycle are currently changing, how they’ve changed in the past, and what we can expect for the future,” says Atwood.
