USF’s Rouzbeh Behnia and Attila Yavuz are part of a multi-university research project focused on the security technology that will be needed to protect the future generation of wireless networks. The project brings together researchers in cybersecurity, post-quantum cryptography, artificial intelligence, and wireless systems.
The team wants to develop new post-quantum, AI-enabled security mechanisms for cellular networks. “A major goal is to ensure that the solutions are not only secure in theory, but also efficient and practical enough for real-world deployment,” says Behnia, adding that stronger, more resilient wireless networks help reduce the risk of service disruptions, data exposure, and cyberattacks and will protect critical communications infrastructure and strengthen national security.
