Dr. Vendrame is a Professor in the Horticultural Sciences Department, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, University of Florida. His teaching (30%) and research (70%) focus in Horticultural Crops, Micropropagation, Cryopreservation, and Space Biology. He teaches Orchidology (undergraduate) and Orchid Biology and Culture (graduate) online; Micropropagation of Horticultural Crops (undergraduate) and Advanced Micropropagation (graduate) live, and a live Orchid Short Course (Survey of Orchids). His research program involves production and conservation of horticultural crops using micropropagation and cryopreservation techniques, and studies on microgravity and space biology. His work has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and he has also contributed to several book chapters. He has received the 2019 North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) award and the 2022 NACTA award on Excellence in Teaching and Learning with technology. He is also a Fellow for the American Society for Horticultural Science (ASHS). Dr. Vendrame has collaborative efforts with several countries, most notably Brazil, Colombia, and Italy. Dr. Vendrame obtained his B.S. in Agricultural Sciences and M.Sc. in Plant Physiology and Biochemistry from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, and his Ph.D. in Horticulture from The University of Georgia.
