Dr. Jerome Irianto is a biomedical scientist who studies how physical forces shape the behavior of cells and influence diseases like cancer. His research bridges biology, physics, and engineering to understand how cells sense and respond to their mechanical environment. During his training, he discovered that when cancer cells squeeze through tight spaces, their nuclei and DNA can be damaged, leading to lasting genetic changes that may drive tumor diversity. Now leading his own multidisciplinary lab, Dr. Irianto combines advanced imaging, bioengineering, and genomics approaches to uncover how the physical world inside our bodies affects cell function, disease progression, and ultimately, human health.
