An isolated monoclonal antibody that has a specific binding affinity to a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence HTEGKP phosphorylated at the threonine residue. The antibody may be used as a biomarker for mitotic cells. Proliferation biomarkers are of indispensable value in cell cycle research. More importantly, many of these markers have been translated into valuable cancer prognostic and diagnostic tools, particularly those used to assess the mitotic index of a cellular mixture.
